Apprenticeship Stage Dancer EFZ in Musical/Show

Stage dancers with EFZ in the field of Musical/Show are sought-after professionals, as they not only master various dance styles, but also bring acrobatic, vocal and acting skills. In addition to the practical skills, theoretical foundations in dance and theatre history, music theory, anatomy and professional studies are taught in addition to the practical skills and individual mental strength is promoted. In addition, it is possible to complete a vocational matura at the same time. During the four years of professional apprenticeships, the learners have the opportunity to gain professional stage experience on and behind the stage as part of internships and work together with international directing teams and renowned musical actors. The aim of this state-recognized and financed training is to start a career directly (musical productions, show acts, commercials, movie/TV, tourism entertainment). Because the apprenticeship is integrated into the Swiss education system with the new specialization musical/show, all doors are still open to the trainees after their completion with the EFZ and, if necessary, the vocational matura.

Prerequisites

  • Completed school education (9 years)
  • Solid basic dance training
  • Physical flexibility and resilience
  • Passed aptitude test

Aptitude tests for the start of the education in August 2022

Aptitude Test Procedure

  • Ballet: Lesson and audition in groups (40 minutes)
  • Jazz: Lesson and audition in groups (40 minutes)
  • Hip-Hop/Commercial: Lesson and audition in groups (40 minutes)
  • Individual audition: song (max. 2 min) and monologue (max. 3 min).

Content

Teaching workshop:

  • Ballet, jazz, contemporary, tap, hip-hop/commercial, couple dance, afro, acrobatics.
  • Repertory, singing, acting

Vocational school:

  • Professional skills: Dance and theatre history, music theory, anatomy, make-up
  • General education classes (ABU) bilingual German/English
  • Possibility to complete a vocational baccalaureate (KV Lucerne).

Target

  • Successful completion of the qualification procedure
  • Engagement as a dancer for musicals and shows

  • BA Musical Performer

  • Pedagogical dance training

Teaching Hours

  • Mon-Fri between 08.00-17.00 hrs
  • Sat 10.00-14.00 (only for vocational baccalaureate)

Costs per year

  • The costs for the training are covered fully by the canton of residence
  • Learning materials and dancewear are to be financed by the trainees
